Small Houses

January 22, 2014 by Wnolan

I was introduced to these tiny houses by a friend who loaned me her book.  Since then, I have been drawn to these small houses, especially since my search for lake property in Montana.  It gives you so much flexibility on the size of your lot, and potential building constraints.  Not to mention the cost!  You are building a lot less house, which in turn equals a lot less money!

I think I am drawn to these small houses, because our family would do a lot of camping in camping trailers.  I love the idea of living in a small house and making every space in it, function for some purpose.  By living in a small space, it encourages you to be outside.  That’s not a bad thing, either!

Although, I have to say, I envision us living there in the summer.  I’m sure we would come down with a big case of cabin fever, if we had to live in such tight quarters all winter long!

I’ve seen these before and I love them too, for many of the same reasons.

My father and my step-mom do a lot of historical recreation camping, and I thought this would be a wonderful addition to their equipment because it can be made up to look period, have most of the modern conveniences for those who are getting a little stiff after too many blows from a fake sword, and it’s still relatively portable.

    Thank you for sharing.

Casi, What a great idea! It would definitely be a step up from camping!

Actually I do. And especially cos it has wheels too so I can perhaps move it from one place to another as well 🙂

Richa, It is appealing to have your home where ever you want to move it to! You are not stuck in one place for years…it would make moving a much simpler process! Just hitch it up and go!

OMG I love these small houses. I have seen them on facebook and just spent like forever looking through them all and admiring how they got to fit all the needed rooms in the small houses. So cool!!

I’ve been enamored with these tiny houses for awhile, maybe because they remind me of the playhouse that I wanted as a kid. I had a friend that had one and I was so jealous. I think I could live in one for a short time – a vacation spot – it would be unique.

Cyndi, I wonder how quickly we would tire of it. Seems like everything is mega size now. Although, I have seen architects trying to plan smaller homes. I am sure you have seen this trend as well.

They’re lovely! Especially for a young couple or someone just living by themselves 🙂

Sophie, That’s why I think it would encourage us to be outside! Too small for all of us!

Aw, these homes are so cute! Great use of space. I think these would be perfect for a weekend getaway at the lake. Thanks for sharing! ~Michelle

Thanks Michelle! It’s nice to see efficiency of space instead of just large amounts of space!
