We don’t often slow down and just have some fun. With the completion of the pool and my husband’s upcoming trip, we decided it was time to have some family fun. So, last Saturday, was the inaugural pool opening. We have been staring at this hole in the ground for almost a year now. It is so exciting to have another completed project!
Oldest son finally got brave enough to do his version of a Cannon Ball.
Middle son picked his swimming off right where he left off last summer. They will definitely be little fishes by the end of this summer!
It was still a bit cold for me, although, I finally braved it a couple of days ago. It is probably as cold as jumping into Flathead Lake at the start of summer. Husband Cannon Balled and got me (and everyone else) wet enough.
I’m so happy we decided to put a pool in and am so grateful that we could afford to do so. If we couldn’t have afforded it, it would have totally been worth it to put in an above ground pool.
A few years ago my mom put up a 2 foot deep pool and really enjoyed it. We did the same in Texas two summers ago when I couldn’t make it back to Montana for the summer, and it made the hot summer so much more bearable. The kiddos AND adults had fun in it.
I would love to hear, have you ever considered putting a pool in or using one of the deeper inflatables? How do you slow down to smell the roses?

Oh, how beautiful and what fun the kids will have. How do I stop and smell the roses? Oh, my gosh, yesterday, I spent 6 hours pruning the rose bushes because they died to the ground after such a hard winter in Illinois. But, I promise to stop and smell them when they bloom!

Ginene, wow, that was a lot of gardening! I’m sure they will be stunning in your beautiful town when it warms up for summer!

Wendy, I’ve been enjoying your Memorial Day posts. This particular one brings back a lot of memories. My sisters and I rode our bikes around the corner to our grandmother’s backyard pool (think banana seat bikes and ‘Green Onions’ playing in the background), later my parents put up an above ground. The next generation, my daughters, nieces and nephews, are blessed to enjoy our in-ground. We’ve been through several pumps and liners – – still ticking – – still enjoying it on those insufferably hot days.

Joanne, I love how you have such great memories surrounding a pool! How nice to be around the corner from your grandmother. During the summer, we lived across the field. We are celebrating my grandmother’s life next week. I remember calling her, to invite her to lunch, which really meant that she was taking ME out to lunch! Ha!
I also remember my lime green bike with a banana seat and streamers from the handlebars fondly!
