509 Design is here to ensure that the construction required to bring your vision to life is done up to our standards — and within your budget. To do so, we follow a clear process with our new construction and interior design clients.
How our new construction services work:
To make sure that your home or business interior design meets your budget and vision, we follow a clear process with our new build service design clients.
Every Inland Northwest interior design project begins with an in-home or in-office 2-hour consultation ($350). During this consultation, we listen to determine your needs and wants, start to define your style – taking note of the style of your space — and help you outline a budget. We also end this consultation by taking measurements to help with our proposal.
Next up, we create the proposal for design work. To do so, we think through things in relation to each other, optimizing the proper work zone (work triangle) and human ergonomics. Once we have an idea for the function of your space, we move onto the beautiful components such as: picking finishes, furniture, lighting, hardware, and many other selections. All of this guides our proposal, which we then present to you. Once approved, a 50% deposit of design fees is due to commence the project.
We develop 3D plans based on your space and design wishes. The design team starts drawings, renderings, and finish selections. These are translated into a room-by-room presentation document. The 3D renderings allow you to visually experience your new space, similar to how it would look in real life. We can virtually walk through the space, experiencing it from different angles.
Once the presentation document is complete, our team schedules a presentation meeting with you. This gives you an opportunity to provide feedback on the layout and selections. You’ll also be able to see materials and finishes (tile, hardware, lighting, etc), drawings, and 3D visualization if 509 Design works as your general contractor.
If you work with us as your general contractor, we then put together an estimate of the overall project renovation. This includes collecting quotes from tradespeople, as well as pricing the cost of materials. A bid request is sent to subcontractors, with clear standards for materials and application method. This means that you’ll receive very specific and accurate bids, rather than wildly different ones that might change once the project begins.
If we operate as your general contractor, we’ll collect bids from all of the tradespeople involved; condense it into one document, and give you an estimate for all materials, labor, permits/fees, and taxes. This is a streamlined process created to make your interior design project much less stressful.
Once you approve the project materials, finishes, and subcontractor bids, the 509 Design team puts together a renovation schedule that works for you and everyone involved. We’ll also create a payment schedule.
If you are using your own contractors, we schedule onsite visits to ensure the design is adhered to and no problems arise during construction. If you choose 509 Design as your general contractor, the renovation officially begins when the contract is signed! We will start purchasing materials, meet with the subcontractors, provide site visits to ensure that the vision is being translated accurately, and communicate frequently with you to keep you updated. As your full-service interior design partners, we are committed to transparency and approachability!

Installation and construction continue. Once construction is completed, furniture installation and styling commences. This is where your vision comes together!
We love this part! Once the work is completed, we schedule a client reveal, along with professional photography. We do a walkthrough, resolve any inconsistencies, present final invoices, and hand off instructions on caring for your new space.
