We had a serious storage issue in our Texas house…seriously lacking! Because of our lack of storage we had to get creative with our laundry room / mudroom storage!
The first thing we did was stack the washer and dryer. This saved us a HUGE amount of floor space. By doing this, we were able to install a mudroom bench.
This house did not have a coat closet or an entry closet. Under the bench we had large drawers with dividers installed for our shoes. This kept them off of the floor and out of the way.
Hooks were installed for backpacks and jackets. Then we installed cabinets above the washer/dryer and above the mudroom. The cabinet above the washer/dryer was great for extra blankets-things we didn’t need often.
The cabinets above the mudroom bench were high, but it kept us from bumping our heads AND I had a built in stool. So, I could reach all the light bulbs, etc on the top shelf!
What things have you done in your home to increase storage and even your mudroom storage?

I really like the size of the mudroom bench. Would you be willing to share the dimensions of bench and the cabinets hanging above?

Hi Suzy,
I had so many questions in regards to this room that I shared some drawings with measurements. Here is the link to that post: https://509.design/small-laundry-room/ The upper cabinets are 42″ tall hung higher than what normal uppers are hung.
Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks!
