Yesterday I shared with you a simple app that helps take some of the pain out of furniture arranging, by allowing you to do it in a plan first. I thought I would share the results from yesterdays plan showing our living room revamp.
There are still some of the remodel projects to finish, but the living room revamp helps the livability of our space. Everyone is happy with it and has requested that it does not get put back the way it was. I would say that is a success!
Here is where we put the furniture as the movers were dropping things off. We were a bit preoccupied and I had not put any significant energy into a plan.
I was limited by our available wall space for certain pieces of furniture and the fact that I did not want to block the window or sliding glass door, because we have amazing views. (The whole reason we bought the house.)
The furniture arrangement really separated the living and dining spaces, making each feel small.
Here’s the plan that worked the best in the space.
Here the room in real life.
The space feels so much larger now. We have much better circulation and more room for our circulation paths.
It feels more connected to the dining space now. Overall, we are happy with our living room revamp. Once the remodel is done and the drywall dust settles, we will put down our other rug. Who knows, there may even be a new sofa in our future.
How often do you rearrange your furniture? Do you sketch it out first, or do you wing it? Or do you find a good solution and stick with it?

Wow, you have a huge living room! I like the angled sofa, you’re right it makes the room look more open. I rearrange my furniture all of the time and it always gives me a new perspective.

Cyndi,
I always feel so refreshed after rearranging…perfect in time for spring, right?!

Love it! Gorgeous ceiling, too. It’s such a warm and cozy space. I love that your dog is 16 1/2 years old. We lost ours at that age a couple years ago. Aussie was such a member of our family. I wouldn’t have moved your dog either just for a photo.
How nice to have great views. I do, too, on the back on my home and everything is centered on it. Happy Spring!

Dana,
The ceiling is one of my favorite thing about this house, second to the view. We actually spent considerable $ extending the beams into the dining area. It really adds such character to the space.
I dread the day Oreo is no longer with us. I keep praying that God would let her go peacefully in her sleep when the time is right. It’ she most difficult thing about pet ownership.
You will have to post some photos of your view. (Maybe I missed that post, if you already did?)
Happy spring to you as well!

I love the couch and I wanted to see your dog closer! Little sweetheart! I like this layout, too and that you are bringing the green from the nice hutch into the living room with the topiaries.

Ginene,
I’ll have to try and get a recent photo of her. It seems like whenever I pull the camera out, she refuses to look at it. I did get some photos with the iPad the other day. I wonder if the camera lens looks like a big eye to her?
I love that you picked up on the repetition of color!

Yeah, I’m listening to you!

Adore your green dining room table, chairs and colorful buffet and room arrangement is fabulous.

Thanks Sue! That green is one of my favorite colors.
