I posted this on our house tour, but thought I would post here too.
Middle son’s bedroom was a small bedroom. When it was time to move from the crib to a big boy bed, I wanted something that wouldn’t take a lot of floor space. After searching for possibilities, I determined we were going to have to build it. After checking Ana-White’s plans, I knew that was the route we would go, especially after seeing someone had made a loft bed. We altered this adapted plan to meet our needs with an addition of a shelf unit at the end for additional storage.
Using a loft bed visually enlarged the floor space making middle son’s bedroom appear a little larger than it actually was.
We found the orange chevron at a local fabric store and made new drapes and matching privacy curtains for the loft bed.
For interest we hung the license plates that we had accrued as a military family (in other words, all of the places we have lived!)
As we gear up to rework middle son’s bedroom for the new house, I thought I should share his Texas bedroom first!
Have you had to find a solution because there was a constraint in your room? Please share how you solved a problem in your space.

This is amazing! I have been looking for a loft bed to build my daughter, and this is it!! You wouldn’t happen to have the plans?

Hello! When I was searching, I found that I had to adapt Ana Whites Farmhouse loft bed to make what I wanted. I just did a hand sketch (I doubt if I have it any longer). I did a quick search for you and found a loft bed that has the bookcase on the end. You could combine the two plans below.
Here is one that would work for the bookcase: http://ana-white.com/2010/05/furniture-plans-loft-bed.html
Here is the other one for the farmhouse style: http://ana-white.com/2011/11/farmhouse-loft-bed-double-mattress-not-too-low-not-too-tall
Hope that helps!
