In this post I shared my lack of patience and how God was stretching me on it. The most recent lesson on patience was our house hunting in Arizona.
In our search, we listed our priorities: school district, pool, number of bedrooms. Our target school district was number one. Apparently, everyone wants in this district, because if a house came up that was a decent price it was gone immediately.
While we were looking, there weren’t any new listings either. So we were looking at properties that had been on the market for awhile, that either needed a lot of work (which we were not opposed to) and/or were over priced.
We finally looked at a house that I had seen on-line earlier and had dismissed because of their lack of photos. When we arrived to look at it, we were amazed by the views. Ultimately, that is what sold us on the house. The house was nothing special and needed work-lots of it! I’m sure that is why others passed on it. Fortunately for us, with my Interior Design background, I could see it had great potential!
Here we our now, living in a 2 bedroom short term rental, while we get bids for construction then start the reno (hopefully next week). I expect (or hope!!!) that we will be far enough along to move in around the middle of October. Remember what I was talking about before…patience?!!!
Here’s the reason we bought the house…
And here are a couple of reasons others passed on it!
The kitchen wasn’t bad, especially with a coat of paint, just really small. So, it will be relocated. (Gulp…$$$)
We have yards & yards of lovely dark brown carpet from the 70’s. Surprisingly, it is in really good shape…but, no
we won’t be keeping it! Any one want a groovy chandelier?
I would love to hear how patience has come into play for your home or property searches! Come commiserate with me!

Looks like good bones – and a lot of hard work! I really like the kitchen in you pins – the one with COLOR everywhere!

Agreed, the bones are good, but it is a lot of work! It’s a good thing we are not even close to a kitchen, because. Haven’t nailed that one down!

The view would do it for me as well. Is this out the front or back? The colors at dusk in the southwest have always drawn me.

Thanks for commenting! This is the back view. The front has a cute little courtyard with amazing mountain views!
