This year Memorial Day hits close to home, while we get ready to say goodbye to our Hero for an extended period of time. We have been extremely fortunate and have not had any large amounts of time where my husband has been gone since having children. (Nothing over a couple of months, anyway!)
So, here we are just over a couple of weeks away from saying goodbye to our hero. The older kids have just started to grasp the length of time and are really upset. It is hard to explain to a five year old that it is not forever, because in their world, it feels like it.
Fortunately and unfortunately, my husband is very involved with the care of our kids. So, his absence will be felt by us all. It’s hard to watch the kids struggle with this. So, I am making it my mission these last days to make them one of celebration. Today, we will celebrate our hero…daddy!
This Memorial Day, will you think of those military families who are separated now and the ones who have the tragedy of being separated through death? Say a little prayer…I know we appreciate all the prayers sent!
Happy Memorial Day!
