I have been searching for a stencil for a long time for my laundry room walls. I wanted something that was large scale, so that ruled out all of the local shops. I found something close to what I wanted online. But, the stencil was close to fifty bucks and I didn’t want to spend that for a small room, especially because I probably wouldn’t have used it again. So, I decided to hand paint my walls using a pattern. Gulp.
I cut out a Moroccan pattern I liked on some cardboard and began tracing it on the wall. It is a bit tedious, and I’m sure a stencil would have gone faster. But, I like the idea that it will be a one of a kind and will look more like wallpaper.
Cutting it out took some time.
You like my cardboard? I figured the top of the note pad would give it some stability. Although, it has made it difficult to get into the corners. I may end up cutting it off by the time I am done.
I think the scale fits the room well. The tracing is probably slower than a stencil, but I think it will look unique. So, there you go…another teaser. Check back soon to see the finished hand painted walls!

Hi Laura, This one got put off while I finish painting cabinets. I am soooo close to finishing all the cabinetry! I hope to get the laundry room done in the next couple of weeks. That’s the problem when doing a whole house reno…seems like everything is unfinished! Ha!

Hi Wendy,
I can’t wait to see this finished project! I have wanted to try something like this out but have put it off too many times. Ginene at Fox & Finch Antiques (blog) mentioned you in a post so I surfed on over to take a peek. I am enjoying reading through your posts.

Welcome Joanne! I have been trying to get this wall done for awhile now. Hopefully, when I get some of the other projects off the list, I can get that one done too!
