Glass Bookshelf

February 17, 2014 by Wnolan

I’ve made a lot of progress these last few weeks.  My mom was in town, so between her helping watch the kids and also helping with some of the house projects, we’ve managed to cross a lot off of the list.  One of those things was Oldest son’s room.  Well, I still have to get the casing and baseboard up, but that’s easy.  (We’ll just have to see how long it takes me!)

When I went to pick up my mom, the airport was close to Ikea.  I didn’t need anything…or at least I didn’t have anything on the list!  But, I still managed to find a few things!  One of those things was a really inexpensive glass bookshelf ($40!).  I had planned on making a ladder shelf for his room, but when I saw this, I couldn’t pass it up!  It is pretty close to Pottery Barn’s Tanner Bookcase at $599, so, yay me!

A little storage and some interest in the form of a glass bookshelf.

I love how it doesn’t take up a lot of space and provides some display space.  He loves his Star Wars Legos right now…so of course they need a prominent spot, right?!

Because he’s not the neatest, I found the bin for the bottom of the shelf to collect some of those toys that I step on in the middle of the night.  Because it’s out, he can pull it out easily and pick up easily.  (In theory, anyway!)

I love that you can’t see the mess until you pull it out or look directly inside of it!

Great storage!

He was pretty excited to come home and see the transformation.  No, I’m not sharing the whole room yet.  Just a little peek for you today!

Have you made it to Ikea yet?  What kind of things have you found and loved?
