My husband had been wanting to take the boys camping for awhile. I wanted to go as well, but the idea of having baby girl crawling around in the dirt was not appealing. Husband looked into renting a pull camper, but it wasn’t big enough for the five of us. So, the next option was a cabin.
He found a cabin in Flagstaff that was for military members. We lucked out they had one place available that accepted pets. When we arrived, we found out that there was some sort of Techno concert going on. Right. Next. Door. With the F bomb flying multiple times a song. Not exactly the outdoor experience we wanted to give the boys!
Needless to say we found another cabin. The only negative was they did not allow campfires. That’s my highlight of camping. I’m disappointed the boys didn’t get to experience that. But there was a great playground right next to the cabin and lots of little roads for bike riding.
They had a great time. It rained off and on, but it was nice because it lowered the temps. We had gone from 106 to the 70’s-80’s. It was a good break. The last night was cool enough we were able to fire up the woodstove, so the boys could make s’mores. They enjoyed eating those, then gazing at the fire.
I just wish it was closer.
